As we wrapped up #MslaRideSolo last week we are reflecting how much motivation and light it brought to our community during a grim time. I know for me it got me outside riding 8 times when I certainly didn’t feel like it. It helped keep our minds and bodies healthy. It brought awareness to how to recreate responsibly while flattening the curve all the while helping bring awareness and support to our closed small businesses of Missoula.

Our riders ultimately raised $4,214.20 with the funds going directly back to Missoula Small Business with $50 and $100 gift cards purchased to small businesses with the funds as prizes for completing the rides which changed every few days. We had competitive riders, recreational riders, new riders and young riders all supporting our community. We even had an 8 year old make it to the top of Snowbowl Road! And a couple 5 year olds completed some of the stages. We rode through rain, snow, wind and sunshine. We had at least 132 participate and log 675 rides with many more participating without registering.

Last week @thebootsappeal from @velonews also caught wind of our story and made the Missoula cycling community famous! I’m sure the story provided some inspiration to other communities across the country looking for ways to stay safely active while supporting their community.

On Sunday our State comes out of "Shelter in Place” and we hope you keep riding safely and responsibly as Spring starts blooming. Make sure to continue to look out for each other, follow public health advice, and support local business when you can. We aren’t sure when we will see you at the actual finish line of an event, but we sure will be excited when we do!
